Most Influential People in My Life...#7

#7 Juan Carlos Santana
Back in 2001, I headed up to the Perform Better One Day Training Seminar in Boston with 2 other trainer friends of mine. I didn't know what to expect. It was my first big seminar and I was drawn to each of the speakers. When JC Santana took the stage and the mic, everything changed for me. I saw enthusiasm, passion, and motivation in the flesh. Everyone talks about personal trainers having special qualities, but JC showed everyone in the room (300+) that great trainers possess all three traits AND on top of it, have the skills to get their clients results!! JC's lecture and hands-on portion was infectious and invigorating. In the hands-on portion, we were instructed to complete a circuit. I mean, you don't want to let the guy down. He is soooo energetic, that you don't want to give him less than 100%. Can you imagine how his clients feel? That is why they achieve the results that they do at his facility in Boca Raton, FL. I mean, listening to him in this clip, you WANT to find a Versa Climber and jump on it!!

As a fitness professional and educator, the thing I like most about JC Santana is his willingness to share what "he does". He is always adamant about announcing that what "he does" is not gospel; it is simply what has worked for him over the years. Many presenters preach that their methods are the "correct" way of doing things...but JC never really made you feel like that. He simply promoted his methods as "his", and if you followed--fine; if not, no big deal. The great thing about his approach is, he is a knowledgeable professional with tons of qualifications and experience so you can be sure his methods are sound.

You can learn more about JC Santana in this very informative interview I conducted with him early in the year. JC doesn't follow anyone else. He has made a living doing what he does and attracting many professionals to his enthusiastic and energetic voice. He is truly an influential figure in this industry and one that we should all hear speak live!

...Stay tuned for #6!
